I echo the comments above - a very well written review.

Then again, I must get angry at you - because now I have another anime I want to watch DX

Perhaps I'm just too easy to please.

f

I agree with MapleRose that you could have fleshed out your review a bit more, adding a bit more support to why Honey and Clover achieved what it achieved so effectively.

Also, I personally found some weird sentence structures, such as
"The art is perfectly suited for the plot, although I doubt if everyone will appreciate the light colors that unceasingly adorn the screen. "
"Perhaps because of the simplicity of the plot, it gives room to allow the human interactions between the characters to blossom and storytell."
^ I kinda got the impression you were trying to flower what you wanted to say. While it's nice to have variety in what your write, it's generally better if you succinctly state what you mean.

For example, the above two sentences I would have written:
" The art is perfectly suited for the plot, though I doubt everyone will appreciate the light colors used throughout the anime."
"It's the simplicity of the plot that allows the human interactions to effectively blossom between the characters."

But of course - that's just me X-P and I'm no English teacher XD

That being said, I think I've found another anime to watch to my increasingly large is of anime to watch (really, I should stop finding anime and actually start watching some T_T).

f

I think you rated art WAY too high (and no, I'm not being biased because I like detail) - I think I 6, or maybe a 7 if we're pushing it would have been far more appropriate because even though there are unique pokemon designs, and they are visually appealing I don't think it's anything of epic proptions. Plus the animation is rather plain in comparison to some of the other series that are out there.

Otherwise, I think you rated the story and presentation categories appropriately.

f

Can I say firstly that I really enjoy reading your reviews - they manage to engage and crack me up all at the same time. You don't hesitate to tell it like it is, something I think we could all take from.

Having said that: I agree with Rosegirl18 about the mentioning of Character designs would have been nice to see but I think everything else was reviewed quite well.

This anime sounds very good to watch - but the idea of this giant cliff hanger ending has me a little skeptical about making a start on this anime. I hate shows that do that T_T gah, it's one thing to leave you wanting more, it's another sitting there wondering why in the world you spent time watching the thing if it wasn't going to end...

f

Lol Shoujoboy - congrats on 100 anime (though I'm sure by now you've watched more).

Gah! I shoudl stop browsing on here, because my list of anime to watch is slowly getting longer... and well I can't keep adding to it without not watching anything!

Nice review :) Makes me wanna watch, it sounds like my type of show. Though it may have to wait T_T

f

Not a bad review Fairwater, but I think you could have organized better: for example, in the sound part you go from Voice acting, to soundtrack and then back to voice acting. It would just have been easier to read if you kept those parts together.

In the story section, I would have included a brief overview about the plot... because readers who haven't seen it (like me) won't really know what you're talking about.

Finally... you may have noticed that you've got these /// randomly popping out - annoying I know, it's what happens when you transfer it from an external editor - but it would have made it easier on the reader if you edited those.

Haha enough little tips: your opinion is clear; I shall think twice before picking up this title. :)

f

Just the sound effects - all the dialog from what I have noticed is all translated into English - and if there is a word that doesn't translate well, an annotation can be found somewhere on the page explaining it :)

And thanks for the suggestions Jakulito - updated accordingly! :D

f

I agree with most of what you said however I think I would have brought the story rating a little down because this anime did contain some annoying filler episodes which got on my nerves at times.

Otherwise nice review :)

f

I've just started watching this anime - and while it is one that I can't sit and watch for 10 episodes straight, I do get a laugh out of it via it's utterly wackyness and randomness.

I think you reviewed it quite justly :)

f

Just to add to the above points - I could have mentioned something about the voice acting as well (but that's just me). I love this series as well so :)

f

A good solid and fair review - personally this is one of my favorite anime and I think you've done a great job reviewing it. I'm currently reading the manga at the moment - and I think the anime would have been much better to follow the manga storyline (though, with the manga not even being finished... that could have presented problems... :P).

I have to agree with MapleRose on your Storyline drop from 9-7 - I mean sure even the manga author paid out the ending (or was it movie... I forget now ^_^;) but I don't think it was SO terrible that it needs to drop 2 points... where's a .5 when you need it? I think and even 8 at least... I mean the characters were lovable, the story unique in its plot and development and despite the ... strange ending I don't think it brought down the feel of the show that much.

f

Nice review Marysonnie - thanks for sharing your thoughts with us :)

f

Not bad dizzy-me for your first review :) You make it sound worth the watch (though I must admit, I'm not really a mecha fan ^_^;).

Just a few points though:
In your sound section - "Needless to say, the sound effects applied in the anime is great " <-- For someone like me who has never watched the anime I think it is needed to say how good the sound effects were, and perhaps you could have expanded a little more on the show soundtrack and on the voice actors as well.

(Plus, you are missing a few capital 'I's' throughout your text)

Just little things though - thanks for sharing your opinions with us :)

f

A nice short review that pretty much sums up how I felt about this series. :)

While I enjoyed watching it, there are much better animes out there plus I thought the storyline dropped a little towards the end of the series. It's still fun to watch if you love the sort of 'dark magic' feel.

f

I quite enjoyed Inuyasha - the characters were likable, the story was interesting and seemed to have potential. However - by about episode 40...

It's not a bad review aRdNeK for your first, but you need to be careful of not to fall into the trap of writing a biased review. I mean it's great that you loved it and you want the world to discover a series you adore so much - but here at MT what people are looking for in a review is more than just what is at face value. The best way to get someone to watch the series is recognizing what elements will appeal to certain audiences and emphasizing those in your review. Even better is explaining what didn't work in the show - it shows you've analyzed it from both sides and really know what you're talking about ;)

That way you'll have interested parties being informed and people not so keen on the subject not telling you so X-P.

Gathering from your watchlist you're just new to the world of anime - so it's understandable why you love Inuyasha so much: trust me if you loved that show you're in for a wonderful surprise of what anime has to offer. But that doesn't mean you won't stop loving Inuyasha - I mean hey, Sailor Moon was my first anime and if I were to watch it now for the first time I probably couldn't stand 2 minutes of it, but being a first, it's a fav and shall always remain so ;)

Interesting MapleRose - while I do enjoy a complex anime script every once and awhile that makes you think, I'm a little disappointed by how to rated this anime. Not saying that your review is bad - it's just at the time I thought it had potential but it seems to me that perhaps not as well as I thought.

Needless to say, it won't be on the top of my anime-to-watch list ;)

f

Lol I'm intrigued, I think I shall have to give this one a go as well.

Generally, I'm more a serious kind of anime lover, but this one is only short and I need a good laugh once in awhile. ;)

f

Nice review MapleRose! You've certainly captured my interest for the series - hehe I think it shall be added to my ever growing list (and I wonder ever completable OX) of anime to watch!

f

I say you've captured my interest - it sounds very good indeed.

Thanks for the review Rosegirl18 - I don't think I'll let this one pass me by :)

f

Interesting review - I love the fact that your intial thoughts echo what my thoughts are of the series at the moment. I've only seen about 5 episodes, and was a little annoyed with the blankness and guy appeal to it all, but because it is clamp, I still consider watching it, and after reading your review, it has me interested in watching it more :)

f

What an extensive review! Great job! I feel so informed and ready to start to explore the world of the Ah My Goddess series!

f

I quite agree with you :) Nice review - it sums it up quite well - I definitely agree with your analysis of character designs however the backgrounds i feel were not as plain as you saw them - I thought they were quite nice.

OST's are great too! Just a question - when you talk about the voice acting - do you refer to Eng or Jap?

Anways nice review!

f

Nice review - I think I may go check this anime out :D ;) It seems worth my while :)

f

Excellent review - couldn't have said it better myself :)
